WP7, IE9 & WMC Extenders
Some blurbs about the near future of Windows Phone 7, Internet Explorer 9 and Windows Media Center Extenders 3.0:
Q. WP7 database support?
A. Implement WCF to retrieve data. Build in-memory databases, query with LINQ and save data to Isolated Storage to ensure that apps keep working when the connection drops.
Q. WP7 enterprise deployment?
A. Management capability on phones coming early 2011, with preview demo around June/July 2010. Enterprise “private” app-deployment no comments.
Q. What is the schedule for IE9?
A. Platform Preview 2 in third week of May, early Jan release.
Q. Any updates to WMC Extender platform?
A. Next-gen is cheaper to implement, will support Silverlight apps for OEM/DSP services. The platform is capable of interfacing with WP7, Win7 and Vista (w Platform Update) PCs.
Q. Microsoft Auto, Home Server, Xbox?
A. UVO & Sync platform (latest hardware gen) will support WP7. Microsoft is not yet ready to share anything about “Vail” Home Server. Xbox updates have not yet been discussed as the team is focused on Natal right now .
